Why we have a crush on this property

Fans of the farmhouse look tend to be drawn in by one specific feature: shiplap. Popularized a few years ago by Joanna Gaines on “Fixer Upper,” it was originally used for constructing sheds and barns. Now, the rustic-looking wall covering bedecks farmhouse-style homes from coast to coast.

This Craftsman abode for sale in Dallas is chock-full of shiplap, and even comes with a gracious farmhouse porch out front. Inside, pops of glam in the form of funky light fixtures and patterned accents give the place personality.

The home was recently renovated, and its walls were stripped to their original 1930s paneling. (The shiplap ceilings and wooden doors are original, too.) The main living area is anchored by a decorative brick fireplace that’s been painted white. The room opens to an open-concept eat-in kitchen with all-new cabinets, appliances, open shelving, and stylish pendant lights.

The time-honored charm continues into the bathroom, where there’s a clawfoot tub, penny tile, and a vintage vanity. The spacious main bedroom, meanwhile, offers a huge walk-in closet.

It’s the outdoor space that seals the deal for me. There’s a lovely screened-in porch — with freshly painted charcoal walls — that overlooks the home’s fenced-in backyard. A path leads to the property’s garage, while a grassy plot makes plenty of room for lounging and dining outside (under string lights, to boot).
