A Bay Area Apartment Full of “Timeless Eclectic” Style
Name: Ellen
Location: Oakland, California
I don’t know if our home can be pinned down to any one style! It’s a mash up of what I like most from many different eras. Timelessly eclectic! We have a lot of inherited antiques from my parents. My father was an antiques dealer and ran a very successful estate sale business. I grew up rummaging through estates with him, and over the years I have acquired many treasures.
The living room windows are my favorite part of the space, they let in so much light! We are also lucky enough to have a dedicated dining room. We host monthly ‘Saturday Suppers’ with friends as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve with my family.
I’m inspired by unique items with history. In one room you might find a mid century table across from a French marble topped wash stand, and the fun part is, it works! The display cabinet in our dining room was found in the basement of an estate my dad was working on, in a previous life, it was used in a bakery to display loaves of bread.
I am a huge fan of Emily Henderson. She adds such a fun personality to her spaces. And Justina Blankeney of The Jungalow is wonderful. I have a minor plant addiction so her spaces make me very happy. Of course, Apartment Therapy is on my ‘must read’ blog list as well! Home Tours are my favorite!
Thanks, Ellen!
