Name: Nicole and her family
Location: Austinmer, Australia
The basics: 1 year, rented

Nicole describes Austinmer as, “a hidden coastal village tucked between the mountains and the seas only an hour south of Sydney.” If that doesn’t get you packing your bags, Nicole’s breezy bungalow will have you hoping on a plane.

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I live here with my husband Jeremy, son Campbell 6, daughter 1, and our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Jasper. We fell in love with the period features of this early 20th century bungalow and the sweeping garden overlooking our favorite beach.

Working from home means I am lucky enough to spend many a morning or afternoon tea taking in the coastal and escarpment views from the sunny back verandah.

What is your favorite room and why? The lounge/sitting room. I spent many an hour this last winter looking out the beautiful bay windows from my fave chair watching the ocean.

Next favorite is my sewing studio room where I can close the door, light a scented candle and work on my baby quilt creations for my small brand Alphabet Monkey.

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? That we could own it and keep it forever.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A shell mirror for the mantle, I love the chocolates and dark tones blending in with the dark timber and brick work in the lounge area. Brings a touch of my Bali travels to our everyday.

Nicole’s words of wisdom: Fill it only with things you love.

Thanks, Nicole!
