Name: Drew
Location: Bed-Stuy — Brooklyn, New York

My partner Danny and I have been living in our 1,100 square foot one bedroom brownstone apartment in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood since February 2016. We were drawn to its 11′ ceilings, parquet floors, crown moulding, wooden blinds, and floor to ceiling windows.

My family is originally from Long Island, and many of the items in our home are antiques passed down from my grandmother such as my great grandmother’s rocking chair, the etched glass base lamp, vases, dish sets, and knitted blankets. My grandfather was a lithographer and made the huge Chicago poster that sits on top of Danny’s grandma’s record player.

My favorite room is the bedroom and I am most proud of the canopy I designed and built myself, including the curtains. I love laying on the bed while drinking tea and looking out the window. It’s also functional when we have overnight guests — which is very often — as it makes it less awkward to pass through the bedroom to use the bathroom.

The only downside to all of this is that I never want to leave our apartment and experience the city.

Thanks, Drew!
