The clients of Buro Koray Duman are living the New York dream. After renovating one space they were able to purchase the apartment next door and expand. The unexpected lime green accents give the space a bright and modern feel, while the exposed brick and copious light keep it feeling warm and welcoming.

From Koray:
Büro renovated a 750-square-foot apartment three years ago which won the 2013 Best of the Year Award. In 2015, an architect and art gallery owner bought the residence next door to combine the two apartments and create a three bedroom and two bathroom space. Existing brick walls between both apartments were carefully replaced by steel columns and beams to provide a living room at the center of the apartment with a 40-foot-long facade facing west towards Sara Roosevelt Park. The living room separates the master suite from the rest of the apartment and is defined by white wash brick walls on the west and south and birch plywood panels on north and east. The plywood panels hide storage and a washer/dryer, while a stainless steel cut-out at the southeast corner creates a custom kitchen and a green cut-out on the northwest corner frames the library and hallway towards the other bedrooms. Büro also designed the custom dining table and sofa for the living room. The project emphasizes the city as the background in each room, all of which are well proportioned and carefully detailed. |
Thanks, Koray of Buro Koray Duman!
