Come stay! Our guest room (Image credit: Anne Freeman )

Name: Anne, her husband and their 4 dogs
Location: Paradise Cove — Malibu, California
The basics: 2.5 years owned, 1,200 square feet

Anne’s home is as cute as it is fun! Designed to weather the elements as well as four dogs, everything is durable and inviting, creating a bright, lived-in feel.

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I bought our mobile home two and a half years ago from Pamela Anderson. It had cute bones but needed an update so we wound up tearing it down to the studs and starting from scratch. My husband loves to cook so we focused our design around the kitchen. All of our decor is is casual and inviting. We didn’t want anything to be fussy because we have four dogs and live at the beach. That meant that our furnishings needed to accommodate pet fur and wet bathing suits! I bought A lot of Kerry Cassill quilts and threw them everywhere. They are gorgeous but can also be easily thrown in the washer and dryer. We wanted our home to have a warmth and comfort that makes people feel like it’s ok to kick back and enjoy themselves.

What is your favorite room and why? Our guest room is my most favorite room. We put a lot of thought into maximizing the space in there. The queen bed with a single bunk over it is so cute. Sometimes my husband and I stay in that room just for fun. It feels like a vacation in there.

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? Our home itself is truly perfect, but being in a mobile home park, the yard is quite small. For my office and art studio I rent the upstairs of a converted barn that is on a property a few miles from my house. Sometime I wish I had the space for a studio at home… then my dogs could always be at work with me and I’d never have to get out of my pajamas.

Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? Probably Spicoli.

Anne’s words of wisdom: Homes are for living… so make sure nothing is too precious. I like to be organized and clean, but never fussy. Fill your home with friends and family, delicious food, fresh flowers and lots of pets.

Thanks, Anne!
