Hello! My name is Ashley Mary of @ashleymaryart. I’m a freelance abstract painter and illustrator. I live and work out of a small, older apartment in Minneapolis with white built-ins that is charming as all get-out. I’m a frugal SOB so I pride myself on a finding unique and affordable decor that feels custom to my story and flavor. I want a space to feel above all bright, white and light so I can make colorful/crazy art.

My style is best described as vintage modern with a touch of boho because I like to steal a little bit of style from each home decor trend, creating a truly curated space. It’s all about the hunt. I take a lot of (compulsive) care in creating and styling every inch of my space so that it feels open, bright, personal, and useful. I try to have only things I love or serve purpose and am therefore constantly shuffling in new pieces and furniture. I tend to be drawn toward white and black, natural tones and elements, interesting shapes, and structural pieces. Every tiny piece is picked out and fussed over.

My most loved pieces: art on my walls all have a story, reupholstered mid-mod chair from grandma’s house, hanging vintage gold lamp I bought in the middle of a blizzard because Minnesota….Craigslist and garage sale finds (I’m mildly addicted). I converted my tiny breakfast nook into my studio where I paint some fairly large scale paintings which I sell around the cities (the black noodle piece is my own). Small but mighty space here!
