My husband, Ron, and I live here with our three children and four pets. Our very first home purchase, we’ve been here a little over a year. It was a dream home purchase and love at first sight for both of us. It was built in 1960 by an amateur architect for himself and his family.

It’s a very unique home with very unique features including PV stone walls, unfinished slate floors, and the triangle fire place (actually, triangles everywhere) just to name a few. But the most stunning feature is the view. We have a view of all of Los Angeles. It’s incredible at night.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Rustic mid-century modern

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? My giant wood-carved Matador picture. I was visiting my sister four hours away and came across it at an antique mall. I had been looking for a giant art piece for my rock wall… saw this and had to have it. Didn’t matter that it didn’t fit in my car. We strapped it to the top of the car. The four-hour drive home took six but he made it safe and sound.

What is your favorite room and why? The “Rock Room” is my favorite. It’s an open room right in the middle of the house. You can sit and relax there and still feel very much a part of what’s going on.

Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? I like to think Don Draper would easily find himself at home in my living room. Or out on the patio with a glass of scotch.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Surround yourself with things you love. Don’t worry if it doesn’t fit a certain design style. It’s YOUR style. Style and taste evolve if you let it. Also, there is NOTHING that haunts you more than the vintage that gets away. If you love it, buy it!
