Name: Sarah
Location: East Village —New York, New York

I live in a cozy alcove studio, about 450 square feet, where I’ve made my wildest nook dreams come true. I’ve always loved sleeping in small, enclosed space (as a kid, I often slept in my walk-in closet) and wanted to find a studio where the sleeping area could be separate, as I love to entertain.

The other features that bring me the greatest joy are my gallery wall (filled with flea finds and art work I’ve collected from family members) and my window overlooking the courtyard. Not pictured is my mounted silver cow head from CB2, the most recent addition.

I’m a Senior Producer for Chopped on the Food Network. I do a lot of cooking, so it was important for me to make my kitchen welcoming, hence the chalk board wall.

Making this small place feel like a home was quite a challenge, and I’ve done everything within my rights as a renter to make it shine. I’ve installed curtains on the ceiling to separate my bed nook from the living area, painted a chalk board wall in my kitchen, and mounted a wood sconce over my bed. It’s become my little sanctuary, and I’m so happy to share it with you!

Thanks, Sarah!
