A Designer and Her Dogs Show Off Their Digs in Austin
Name: Jennifer
Location: East Austin — Austin, Texas
The basics: 1 year, rented | 1,500 square feet
Jennifer and her dogs have put down roots in this lovely Austin home. Jennifer is a designer by trade, and her ability to mix high and low, make bold choices work and balance a space is truly on display here.
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I live in a great neighborhood on Austin’s eastside. It’s a mix of really nice modern homes and really run down cottage homes some say that are in need of tearing down. I personally like the mix, as it adds to the uniqueness of the area.
I live with my three dogs Bailey (likely Pit Mix), Jetty (likely Pit Mix) and Charleigh (French Bulldog). I am the owner and principal interior designer of a local design firm called, J.Fisher Interiors. We like long walks around the neighborhood to greet the local chickens and swims at the lake. I’m an avid yogi and just picked up paddle boarding. Single and looking. 🙂
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is my master bedroom because it feels like you’re in a stylish tropical paradise. I love the pairing of the pricey vintage Sarreid nightstands with the inexpensive CB2 bed. The flokati rug is like getting out of bed on a cloud every morning.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I just redesigned my backyard and back patio. I bought a beautiful handmade hammock from South America, a sunbrella cabana striped umbrella and some chimeneas for the seating area in the yard. For the porch I purchased a sofa from CB2 (with matching sunbrella cabana striped pillows), a seagrass rug from Target, wooden folding chairs from an online source and a trio of tile tables from Anthropologie.
Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? Polly (Jennifer Aniston) from Along Came Polly… we’re like the same person.
Jennifer’s words of wisdom: Never buy anything you don’t love!
Thanks, Jennifer!
