Name: Sunny
Location: Williamsburg — Brooklyn, New York

I moved into this apartment in 2009 with a roommate when I was 26, needless to say it has gone through MANY changes, from bad vintage furniture to a lace teepee in the middle of the living room, to finally, my little sanctuary that I call home.

My husband and I share this modest 700 square foot, two bedroom apartment and I love coming home to it. I’m Iranian but I was raised in the states so I try to intermingle those two things. My husband is American and has a country heart but also loves textiles and Moroccan patterns, so we have hints of all of those influences in our house. We don’t own a TV but we have a large projector which feels like you’re at the movies.

Special corners: We have a little corner in our bedroom with photos of our parents and family, my dry wedding bouquet and a neon sign we made for our engagement party. We have another corner with masks we’ve collected through our travels.

I love my office because it’s completely me with no compromises, and all the plants that we keep alive remind of California where I grew up. The Persian rug in the office was brought here from Iran as a wedding gift, so that is very special to me as well as little items from our friends, like the plant pots, the photos and artwork.

We try to live more minimally because we both admire that style, but I think at our core we are a little eccentric and nostalgic so we end up with more.

Thanks, Sunny!
