Name: Peti
Location: Financial District — New York, New York

My home is a 750 square foot one bed/one bath apartment in the Financial District. It is also my workspace for my eponymous interior design business, Peti Lau. My home is a culmination of all of my life experiences; my travels, my work, my interests, my past hobbies, and my current obsessions. It is an eclectic mix of exotic finds paired with tailored accents.

Tired of searching for a term to explain this nameless but beautiful style that I recognized in many homes, I coined the word AristoFreak®. AristoFreak®, which I have founded my professional and personal work upon, effortlessly explains this eclectic mix of romanticism and worldly charms and the free-spirited lifestyle that comes with it. My favorite part of the apartment is my gallery wall (featured on your Instagram!). The gallery wall is a beautiful reflection of my life; some pieces are very valuable, some are $10 flea market finds, and some are photos and artwork done by my family and friends, but they all have a special meaning to me. The way they come together to create something cohesive, luxe and charming is the perfect example of the AristoFreak® aesthetic.

I chose this apartment because I loved the architectural “bones” of the space; the high ceilings, lofted bed, large bright windows, and spacial layout were all conducive to my working and living requirements. Also, location, location, location; the apartment is located in the middle of all my clients in New York. I am in downtown Manhattan, but I can get to Brooklyn, upper Manhattan, and New Jersey via the easily accessible trains and highway.

My home plays many roles, but I feel it excels in telling my own story, and helping me tell others’ through my design work. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

Thanks, Peti!
