Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My home is a direct reflection of my personality. I love to be creative and get my hands dirty. So having the ability to design my own space has been very rewarding. I love mixing patterns and style and old with the new. Color is my comfort zone.
My art collection is very personal to me. I collect art on my travels as a way to remember the trip. Every piece I have has a story and memory associated with it. From my first piece of art I could afford at $20 to my first “adult art piece” purchase, I love my memories with these pieces. I wanted to design a space where my art collection is able to shine.
I identify as a creative. I work in the restaurant world, so I don’t always get the opportunity to wear fashion-forward clothing. Where I get to show my style is in my home. All the colors on the walls are colors that look good on my skin tone. I treat my lighting in my space as if they were a pair of earrings I would get to wear with an outfit.
An amazing area rug is like have a killer pair of heels. My bed is my classic cocktail dress that I love slipping into. It’s so personally me, people know it’s my home the moment the door opens.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: French bohemian with modern twist
What is your favorite room and why? My bedroom is my safe space. I completely redid the entire space. I built the built in-closets, tiled the floor, added trimwork to the walls, painted, and added the lighting. It’s the truest reflection of me! The artwork above the bed was my first “adult art piece” and it inspired my space. Little color specs in the art you can see reflected in the room. I love coming home, turning on my lights, and getting into bed. It’s my favorite wine-down time.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? I recently redid my kitchen backsplash! Fell in love with the white and how it transformed the space. Quick and easy DIY.
Any advice for creating a home you love? There is no wrong choice when it’s your home! You are the one who gets to enjoy the space every day. So enjoy it! All your decisions are for yourself and should make your space a place you want to come home to. The only bad decision someone can make is a decision they are too scared to commit to.
