Name: Kate & Joff Reid
Location: Southsea, England
The basics: 2 years, Rented | 580 square feet

Kate and Joff’s Southsea home is cute but not precious, curated but not staged, pink but not aggressively pink. Basically, they’ve mastered the art of balancing personality, fun and design all in one adorable space.

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My partner Joff and I have lived in our two bedroom apartment for nearly two years, although we’ve been together for 11! We are both creatives (Joff is a screen printer and sign writer and Kate is a designer and runs her own brand KROMA BY KATE) and we wanted our home to be a true reflection of our creativity and all that inspires us, as well as all celebrate the memories we have together.

We wanted to make sure each room had its own identity but also flowed well into the next. The color green makes many an appearance throughout our apartment, including our mint green hallway, green marble kitchen floor and tropical inspired lounge and bathroom.

We enjoy displaying objects, artwork and photographs that have meaning to us, like our recent wedding photographs, ceramics from our travels and all our furniture that we have usually found on eBay.

I love mixing modern trends with 1970s style. Our inspirations combined come from an eclectic mix of 1970s furniture, Palm Springs vibes, minimalism, bohemian textures, pastel colors and tropical prints.

Although our home is rented, we’ve always been big believers that every space should feel like home, so we’ve undergone a few DIYs to make our space feel more like ours. Including our DIY Marble kitchen units with copper spray painted handles.

We also share a home studio space which is so much fun!

We hope that our guests feel as happy and chill in our little space as we do.

What is your favorite room and why? I think it would have to be our bedroom. It has the least color, but the hues and textures are so calming and chill.

If you could magically fix something about your home, what would it be? If I could magically add a garden space or balcony onto our apartment I definitely would! Although we have a beach nearby and a lot of indoor plants, I would love an outside space to chill in the sunshine.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A 1970s bamboo three seater sofa and arm chair from eBay. It’s our new DIY project to upholster it for summertime!

Kate’s words of wisdom: Think about all the colors, objects and people that make you happy and fill your home with those things! Simple! Also, decorating doesn’t have to be expensive. My best finds have been found through second hand stores and on eBay.

Thanks, Kate!
