Name: Inga
Location: Gahanna, Ohio

I live in a 746 square foot one bedroom apartment on the first floor, in a newly built apartment community in Gahanna, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. Since I was the first tenant to occupy this particular unit, it really feels like MY home. It’s located in a great area, surrounded by premiere shopping centers, as well as a 10-minute drive to work, which is a major plus.

I would label my aesthetic as transitional and ever-changing (literally. I’m so ridiculous); however, I always revert back to some sort of neutral palette. I love creating a peaceful, zen, chill vibe in my home, which is why Buddha statues fill each room. I can’t get enough of them!

I gain inspiration from many sources – Apartment Therapy being the main one, of course! Others include Home Polish’s home tours, Pinterest, and whatever else catches my eye. I’m really drawn to an eclectic interior style, or a Scandinavian/minimal-inspired aesthetic when I’m looking for inspiration online. I also really get a kick out of seeing how others decorate their small living spaces.

Within the last year, I’ve discovered a newfound love for plants. Not sure where that came from, but touches of greenery throughout my small space makes me really happy.

I love all of the updated features of my apartment – the 9 foot ceilings, the pendant lights over the kitchen counter, and the black appliances, which add a sleek touch to the kitchen area. My biggest challenge would probably be storage, but I do my best to make it work. Usually, when I buy something, I give something away, so it all works out!

My favorite room is definitely my living room. It’s the first room people see when they enter my space, so it had to be official. Plus, it’s where I spend most of my time, so I focused on making that particular room a cozy, welcoming area because that is always the primary goal when I decorate. I believe your home should be your sanctuary, so put in that extra effort to make it so!

Thanks, Inge!
