A Small Apartment Was Decorated on a Budget
Name: Morgen Walker
Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Size: Approximately 350 square feet
Years lived in: 7 months, renting
This is my first apartment after my recent divorce. I work for HORNE so most of the furniture I have collected has been damaged items that I’ve repaired myself over the years. Other pieces have been in my family for over a hundred years that I’ve collected from family members. The building is located in the heart of downtown Lancaster across from a beautiful stone church–the views are amazing. The artwork hanging has either been painted by my dad, myself, or local artists that I know or admire. This apartment has become my most favorite home to date.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Refreshing mid-century sanctuary
What is your favorite room and why? My living room—I love having a beautiful space to hang my dad’s paintings, and the views of the church across the street are spectacular.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? I would love to upgrade the wood paneling and drop ceiling in the bathroom and kitchen, though I also think it adds a homey charm to the space.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? Most of my furniture was acquired through work, however my favorite piece so far has been my Jielde Signal Curved Arm Floor Lamp.
Any advice for creating a home you love? I like to surround myself with meaningful objects. The artwork and objects in my home all have some sort of story or memory attached. My apartment reminds me of who I’ve been, who I am, and who I’d like to be.
