This Mid-Century Micro Home Is Tiny, But the View’s Terrific
Name: Karst Rauhé
Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Size: 269 square feet
Years lived in: 9 months, renting
I live in a 25-square-meter studio apartment in one of the best neighborhoods in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The studio is the front room of an old 1910s townhouse, with a beautiful ceiling and fireplace. Previously there were ensuite doors to the room at the back of the building, but currently the tiny kitchen is located there.
My interior decor is 75 percent thrifted pieces. Nice oriental rugs and teak furniture give the studio a warm and cozy feeling. I am a freelance blogger/copywriter and urban planner and I love decorating my place to make it feel spacious and unique.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The faded pink and blue Persian rug.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t furnish/style it all at once and dare to go for that unique piece/color you love.
What is your favorite room and why? I will change this question to which corner. My favorite corner is the daybed beside my teak chest of drawers. Sitting there, sun on my face and a calming record playing while sipping coffee is my ideal morning.
Thanks, Karst!
