My partner and I moved to the DC suburbs a little over a year ago and it changed our lives. Leaving the hustle of DC was the best thing we've ever done. Our little neighborhood is walking distance to cafes and hiking trails. It's a quiet community that we've come to love.
Home interior is one of my passions. I'm obsessed with adding my unique style to wherever I live and work. This place has the most space we've ever had, and we definitely make the most of it, including a home office.
Our furniture is a mix of thrifted pieces, IKEA and West Elm. I'm a sucker for a DIY so the thrifted pieces are my fave. We transformed the base of a china cabinet into a TV stand by sanding and painting it plus changing the knobs. It was $10 and brings so much life to the room.
While our home is curated with our favorite things, it's still comfortable. By decorating with books, pictures and found objects, it feels like us.
We also have this papasan chair that we found at a yard sale. We added a teal cushion from Pier One and it plays so nicely off the red of our TV stand — also DIY'd.
The living room is my favorite room because of the DIYs and thrifted pieces. For example, the shelves above the TV were purchased to add stability to our platform bed, but they were too long. Instead of trashing them, we made shelves that hold art and books.
