The 850 square foot apartment designed by James Wheeler of J. Wheeler Designs is located in Midtown Atlanta and is the homeowner’s first home. It was chosen based on its location and the amenities, including accessibility to entertainment options, security of a 24-hour concierge, and ease of maintenance.
The biggest design challenge was the small size and lack of storage, so James designed solutions with space-saving features, including appropriately sized custom furniture with built-in storage options. The custom furniture, large coffee table, worktable and bed, serve multiple purposes, allowing flexibility and the opportunity to entertain small and larger groups. James chose to layer in textures and fabrics in a mix of modern and vintage, warm lighting and neutral paint and wall coverings accented by subtle pops of color and art throughout the predominately masculine space.
