You Can Rent Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wisconsin Schwartz House On Airbnb
Grab five of your friends and book a trip to Two Rivers, Wisconsin to stay in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Still Bend, also known as the Schwartz House. This 1940s-era home is currently available to rent on Airbnb and is a shining example of Wright’s famous mid-century modern aesthetic.
Still Bend is a rare example of a two-story Usonian house — a type of home Wright designed for middle-income families. Out of the sixty or so Usonian homes he built, most were all one-story homes, but Still Bend boasts an airy second level.
The home features warm wood paneling and brick walls, large floor-to-ceiling windows, open floor plans with nooks and crannies, and an exterior that sinks into the surrounding nature.
Wright based the design on this house on a 1938 design for LIFE Magazine and described Still Bend as “a little private club with special privacies, ultra-conveniences and style all the while.” Fern and Bernard Schwartz saw the feature in the magazine and hired Wright to bring his vision to life in Wisconsin.
Still Bend is big enough to sleep six in its four bedrooms and is listed on Airbnb for $532 per night with a minimum stay of two nights. And even though the house looks like it was pulled out of 1940, it still offers modern amenities like wireless internet — but keep in mind that air conditioning is not on the list.
The home was featured on the second season of Netflix’s “The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals” because it really is that good. Just pack your bags and get ready to experience one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most impressive private homes.
