Aki & Chris’s Amazing Opportunity in Brooklyn
My husband and I live on the second floor of a pre-war brownstone in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Our apt is a 1.5 bedroom, 950 sq ft, cozy space with an open floor plan. We’ve lived in the building for almost 11 years but have only been in our current unit for under two years. We previously rented the parlor level apt for 9 years before having an incredible opportunity to design our future apartment (collaborating with new landlords) on the floor above us.
When our new landlords found out that we are both designers (museum design and web design), they asked us for our input in the new renovation.
We were able to help design the overall floor plan and layout, pick cabinetry, light fixtures, hardware, baseboard, paint colors, etc – the whole package.
We wanted a modern light look with black and brass accents. Because our furniture and collections are a mix of neutral organic patterns and textures with pops of bright color and playful pieces – we wanted a simple classic design that would complement all of our stuff.
We love to cook and entertain, so an open floor plan between the living/dining/kitchen area was really important to us. It’ll always be a work in progress but we couldn’t be happier with the end product, it really feels like home.
Thanks, Aki & Chris!
