Goodbye Inflation: Aldi Is Selling Thanksgiving Essentials at 2019 Prices

With sky-high inflation, many families are expecting to struggle buying Thanksgiving food items. To help out, Aldi is turning back the clock.

The grocery chain has reduced the prices of their holiday staples to pre-pandemic levels, resulting in up to a 30 percent discount. According to a press release, items on sale include favorites such as brie cheese, cornbread stuffing, mini quiches, macarons, wine, and apple pie, to name a few.

A letter to Aldi employees, which was posted on Reddit, also said that there will be more than 50 products included in the initiative.

Shoppers can find these much-needed discounted goods by looking for a special sticker. It’s a red circle with a white “rewind” icon with “Thanksgiving Price Rewind” in white text.

This is a welcome development from Aldi, seeing as restaurant food prices and grocery items have increased 8.5 percent and 13 percent respectively since September 2021. The cost of turkeys, meanwhile, have jumped 28 percent, or about $6, from a year ago.

“Providing amazing products at the absolute lowest prices is what we’ve always done, and we know right now that’s more important than ever,” said Dave Rinaldo, president of ALDI U.S. 

The price markdowns are now ongoing and will last through November 29.

“We expect to welcome tens of millions of customers in our stores this Thanksgiving season, and we want them to know they can count on us,” added Rinaldo. “So why not attempt that additional side dish this year, or invite over a few more friends or family members? You can rest easy knowing ALDI has your back this Thanksgiving, and beyond.”
