Name: Aletha
Location: Grand Haven, Michigan

We spent almost a year restoring unique details to our modest-in-size Mid Century Modern home in Grand Haven, Michigan. We had been house searching for a year, and were outbid on three other Mid Century properties before touring this home tucked away on a quiet street off the beaten path. When we pulled into the driveway, I knew it was the one we’d been looking for!

We chose to move to Grand Haven, 45 minutes from our former home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, because we wanted a home we could potentially stay in until we retired. We loved the wide-openness of the common areas, and the bedrooms and “private” areas tucked away in the back of the home.

The huge windows and large shaded lot (1/2 acre) were both key elements for making this THE house for us. Yes, we ended up gutting the house to the studs to start fresh, but sadly everything original had been ripped out by the former owners over the years.

We’ve lived here for over two years now, and while there are always small projects going on, we certainly don’t plan on moving anytime soon; we absolutely love this home!

Thanks, Aletha!
