Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: I (Casie) have always been passionate about real estate and design. I wanted to find some way I could start a career in those industries, but I didn’t know how. One day the idea sort of came to me. I pitched the idea to my husband (Will) of starting our own Airbnb in Lake Arrowhead. We had been there with our kids a few times and had the best time as a family. He was ALL in!
When I first saw this cabin listed online, I knew it was special. Someone else did too, and it went pending almost immediately. Luckily for us, it fell out of escrow and we put an offer in right away sight unseen! We were over the moon when we found out the sellers had accepted our offer and the cabin would be ours!
Over the last eight months, my husband and I have been working tirelessly to renovate our space, and create a retreat for families to come and connect with one another while enjoying all that the mountains have to offer.
Our space is intentionally designed for families with young children. Our kid room has two twin beds, toys and books for the little ones to use. There is a kids’ reading nook upstairs. And we even have an art studio in the backyard for parents and kids to create souvenirs from their stay.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Whimsical and cheerful boho cabin.
What is your favorite room and why? Our kitchen is definitely my favorite room. We worked so hard on designing and building this space, and to see how it came together gives me such pride! It was the biggest DIY my husband and I have ever done, and I love how it brought us together, helped us to work as a team, and empowered us to want to do it all again!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The rug in the kid’s nook upstairs! It was a $40 sale on sale rug from Anthropologie and I LOVE it so much!
Any advice for creating a home you love? Take risks! There’s so much that we did in the cabin that I wouldn’t otherwise have done in my own home. And I LOVE it all! From the green cabinets, to the bunny wallpaper, to all the pinl, I think the risks are what make the space me. And it made all the difference in the end!
