You can buy almost anything on Amazon these days — including whole (tiny) homes. Whether or not you want a tiny home to move into or are just interested in an accessory dwelling unit, Amazon is selling the most adorable Allwood Sommersby Garden House Kit that looks straight out of Norway for under $10,000 — and it’ll completely transform your summer entertaining.

This garden house, which is also available for sale on the Allwood Outlet website for $8,690 (before shipping), looks like a Scandi-style modern cabin with glass double French doors, sky lights, and floor-to-ceiling windows (including one that opens all the way) that flood the interior with natural light.

Featuring an all-wood build and durable wind-block wall planks, this cabin-inspired tiny home is best for someone who has access to lots of outdoor space, as the Nordic spruce wood structure has a whopping 14-foot diameter, 19-foot width, and an 8-foot height.

Inside, you’ve got 174 square feet of space to work with, whether you want to build yourself a detachable backyard retreat, a quiet work-from-home haven away from the rest of your house, a dedicated crafting shed, a gardening area, or even a separate guesthouse for visitors. The possibilities are truly endless.

If you really want to give your backyard retreat some “always on vacation” energy, Allwood Outlet also has the option to add either a mini L-shaped bar for $228 or a regular bar for $336.60 in the same spruce wood. The add-ons are discounted by 15% off if you buy it with the garden house.

Some things to keep in mind: While the kit comes with floorboards and floor joists, you’ll need to add insulation, roof shingles, plumbing, electricity, and a concrete foundation separately. Also, the company suggests you paint or treat the wood on your home “soon after it is assembled” for the warranty to apply and to protect it against the weather. In addition, you may need a permit to build your cabin depending on where you live.

While the cabin is water resistant, there isn’t information on how much wind the cabin can resist, so you may want to contact the manufacturer to see if it makes sense for you depending on the regular weather conditions of your area. You also have the option to add a 15- or 22-square-foot room to your build on Allwood’s website.

All these amendments and potential permits will significantly drive up the cost of this tiny unit, but the total would still ring in well under the average home cost of $420,000. While building this cabin yourself might seem daunting (Allwood estimates it should take two adults four days to complete), happy customers said the results of the “wonderful garden house” were well worth it and beginner friendly. However, you can always get a quote from a local contractor if you’d rather a professional take on the handy work.

“This was exactly what I wanted,” one Amazon customer said, revealing she put the cabin together with her daughter. “I am no expert, but the assembly is fairly easy as everything is cut to size and predrilled,” she said, calling the result “wonderful and a nice garden house for us to relax and enjoy.”

Meanwhile, satisfied buyers on Allwood’s website applauded the garden home’s prices for the quality as well as the Nordic aesthetic. “The cabin came together easily, without a hitch, and the design of the house allowed for effortless electrical, plumbing, and sewer connections,” one person shared. “Upon completion, this tiny house met all of my expectations. I now feel like I have a little piece of our Norway life in my backyard in Portland, Oregon.”

While Amazon’s pricing might seem considerably more expensive than the listing on the Allwood website, it likely takes shipping into consideration. If you were to shop on Allwood’s site, you’d have to contact the company and give them your address to calculate shipping. No matter where you shop, though, the home is a total steal — and I’m dreaming of having a Scandi-inspired backyard to brag about.
