I Wish I Found This Stunning Living Room Sconce Sooner (It Looks 4x the Price!)

I can’t resist any piece of home decor that’s either brass or squiggle shaped. So when I came across this double sconce on Amazon that’s both of those things, I instantly pressed the order button without much of a plan, though it made sense to put it in my living room. But when the piece arrived just two days later, I realized it would fit perfectly in a little nook in my bedroom that could use a bit of extra light. You don’t always see these kinds of double lights in bedrooms — they’re typically in living room layouts, entries, and bathrooms — but I figured it’d be an unexpected touch, so I went with it.

Living in a small New York City rental apartment, I’m all about affordable and functional pieces. This sconce fits the bill here, as it costs just $60 (whereas many similar sconces retail for hundreds!), and it casts a pretty glow on a few of my favorite art pieces and books I have displayed on a vintage shelving unit. I also love that it takes up zero floor or table space, so it’s a great way to work your walls without overwhelming a room.

It also doesn’t hurt that the light, which you can see here in my room, is super-adorable and complements the English country look I have going on in my bedroom quite nicely. But I could also see this piece working in transitional, farmhouse, grandmillennial spaces — you name it! The sconce looks so high-end in person (it definitely doesn’t strike me as a big box store purchase) and introduces a bit of polish and whimsy to my room, thanks to its warm, polished brass finish and playful, sinuous shape. At about 7 inches wide and just over a foot tall, it’s a decent size but not too large, which makes it versatile for a variety of rooms. The fabric shades are also quite nice, and I love the diffused light they give off in my nook. 

I had someone hang the light for me, but it came with all the necessary hardware and was easy to affix to the wall. Since I’m a renter and can’t change the electrical wiring in my space, I decided to add rechargeable light bulbs to the sconce. This is a great option, though, given I don’t love the look of cords and can easily turn the lights on and off with a remote without leaving my bed. It also makes installation much faster and easier to reverse, if and when I move out and want to bring this light with me — or if I just decide I want to try it in a different spot. 

Love the look of this sconce but don’t have quite as much wall space available? Don’t worry — it also comes in a single-light configuration. You can squeeze one in on your side of the bed (or both sides!), flank a living room fireplace with a pair, use a set beside a bathroom mirror, or tuck one in anywhere else that could use a bit of extra brightness on a budget.
