You Can Buy the Most Gorgeous Sunroom From Amazon (Really!)
The tiny home hype is going strong as people embrace pint-sized homes with lower costs and, in a lot of cases, the freedom to move wherever they want. However, fully committing to the experience can also be an overwhelming life change, not to mention figuring out your new digs’ plumbing, insulation, and electricity situations.
If you want to dip your toes into pseudo-tiny house living with none of the complications, Amazon is selling an add-on solarium that basically gives you extra square footage in a detachable sunroom structure, and it’s absolutely gorgeous.
Currently on sale for $2,839.99 from its original $3,298.99 price tag, the 10×12-foot Domi Wall-Mounted Sunroom is a perfect tiny all-weather solution for when you want some extra indoor space with an outdoor feel.
After all, when temperatures begin to drop during the winter months, your outdoor area — where you probably spend most of your time during the summer and fall socializing and hosting people — suddenly becomes largely unusable. Plus, it may be extra attractive to buyers who want a sunroom, because, who doesn’t want a sunroom?
You can add a little extra indoor room (and a whole lot of sunshine) by putting this light-filled structure in your yard — and the best part is that this gazebo-sunroom hybrid is weatherproofed for all year-round conditions, making it perfect for a shed, pool house, or even a craft area. Being able to mount the sunroom on the exterior of a home provides for extra stability, and it really looks like a professional house extension, as several customers demonstrated in their comments and photos.
According to the Amazon listing, it can withstand up to 60 mile-per-hour winds and 35 pounds of snow pressure per square foot. There’s also an extra support column to prevent the roof from collapsing from heavy snow or bad weather. Just to be on the safe side, I’d recommend confirming this with Domi or a licensed home contractor.
The Domi website, which has the same solarium listed for $2,939.99, has some extra details on the build. In addition to its aluminum frame and a reinforced slanted steel roof with water gutters to prevent leaking, there’s a screen for ventilation in the warmer months as well as detachable PVC sliding windows that block 99% of UV rays.
One caveat is that the Domi website specs are a little shy of the measurements in the Amazon listing, as they claim that the entire tiny house measures 11.82 feet in length, 9.52 feet in width, and 7.01 feet in height — not quite 10×12 as Amazon promises. You’ll also need to make sure you have at least two to three people to assist in installing your new gazebo, and you’ll need to be able to anchor your gazebo “as soon” as you finish the installation, the Domi website notes. They also suggest that you reach out to your local government to see if you can legally install the structure.
If you want something a little bigger, there are also approximately 12×14-foot designs and 12×16-foot designs, but you’ll want to look at Domi’s website to make sure that the measurements are accurate.
Despite this, it sounds like this sunroom lives up to its promises, as there are numerous happy buyers raving about it being “very-well engineered,” a “great bang for the buck,” and “great quality” on both Amazon and Domi’s websites. There are also a ton of photos of the finished sunroom for inspiration. So, if you’ve been wanting to add an indoor-outdoor porch extension to your existing house, this might be a budget-friendly (and cute) way to make it happen.
