Amazon is trying to become the coolest place in the world. They bought Whole Foods. You can have things delivered to your house in an hour. You can watch TV from basically anywhere using Amazon Prime. Honestly, is there anything bad about Amazon? Well, if you think it is great to be an Amazon customer, it sounds like being an employee is even better. The Amazon headquarters are even more pet-friendly than any other office in the world

What could make any workday better? A dog, obviously.

If you work in a dog-friendly office, you know the true joy of getting to work with dogs surrounding you. Some pet-friendly offices have way more dogs than others, depending on how many people are actually comfortable bringing their pooch in. But no one has a better policy than Amazon.

The company announced on their blog just how pet-friendly the Seattle headquarters office is. On any given day, they can have 6,000 dogs at the facility! Where do I sign up to become an Amazon employee? More specifically, the employee at Amazon who gets to pet each dog.

In their blog post discussing their pet-friendly policy, Lara Hirschfield, Amazon’s “Woof Pack” Manager, said on behalf of the company:

“Having dogs in our workplace is an amazing treat. They make employees smile, and we’re proud this is such a uniquely Amazonian tradition. It’s truly ingrained in our company culture. Our employees love bringing their dogs to work and love meeting their co-workers’ dogs.”

The company isn’t jumping on the bandwagon of other dog-friendly retailers. Amazon has been dog-friendly since Day 1. In the early days of the company, a husband and wife team brought their Welsh corgi, Rufus, into the office and he got the ball rolling for thousands of other pups.

Amazon isn’t just dog-friendly in the sense that dogs are allowed on the property. The headquarters is decked out for employee’s fur babies. On the 17th floor of Amazon’s Doppler building, there’s a doggie deck with plenty of room for dogs to run around. There is even a fake fire hydrant for them to pee on!

Lara said that she thinks the pet policy is a great way to bring the employees of Amazon together.

“Dogs in the workplace is an unexpected mechanism for connection. I see Amazonians meeting each other in our lobbies or elevators every day because of their dogs.”
