You know a product is a winner when not one, but two design editors independently choose it out of the thousands of options available on Amazon. My Lahome tablecloth is such an item. When I sent Apartment Therapy’s home director, Danielle, photos of my apartment a few months ago, she instantly ID’d it as the same tablecloth she has in her own home. I have the white and blue plaid colorway, while Danielle has the black-and-white windowpane print—you can see it in her dining nook in her Tiny Tour

There’s a reason we were both drawn to this $23 tablecloth: It’s affordable, stylish, and good round tablecloths are surprisingly hard to find! Personally, I’m a sucker for the vintage-y tassels around the edge—they’re a little bit farmhouse, a little bit boho, but the overall effect is still mellow and soothing. At approximately 60 inches in diameter, it’s just the right size for my 48-inch pedestal table. There’s some drape over the edge, but it’s short and casual enough for everyday use. The cotton blend fabric has a nice hand feel, washes well, and looks decent without ironing—thank goodness, because I rarely iron.

I also have a confession: I bought this tablecloth because I was too lazy to refinish my vintage pedestal table. I’ve never been one who was afraid to sand and paint in my New York City apartment. With a deadline to photograph my home for inclusion in my book, “The Little Book of Living Small,” last winter though, I needed to hide the table’s chipped paint—fast. What started as a temporary fix for a photoshoot turned out to be a well-loved home item. We don’t use it every single day, but anytime someone is coming over, I pull it out, and suddenly our place looks a little fancier. It’d also be a great solution if you have a round table that you’re not too crazy about elsewhere in your home. Tablecloths are really great for concealing older pieces that have lost their luster or just adding a bit of temporary personality to something that’s on the plain side.

Turns out I’m just one of many Lahome table cover fans: The product has a 4.6 star-rating on Amazon, and the reviews are pretty darn enthusiastic for a cheap tablecloth. To my own surprise, when I’ve shared photos of my home on social media or websites, more people ask about this Amazon find than the on-trend millennial pink vase (it’s the extra-large Raawii Strøm Vase, if you’re curious).

If you’re looking for a table covering for your apartment-sized round table, the Lahome can’t be beat in value, everyday practicality, and easygoing style that will match almost any decor. I’m sure the rectangular versions are great, too, if that’s what will fit your table. You can also snag this style in a few different striped colorways, if that’s a more appealing pattern to you.
