I Asked 2 Designers to Share What’s Worth Buying on Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days — These 5 Items Made the Cut

Amazon’s latest Prime Big Deal Days are well underway. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve been craving a home refresh for fall — so the timing couldn’t be better. But it can be a bit overwhelming to shop the site during the semi-annual super-sale. Tons of deals are available for Prime members, which makes it difficult to know what’s actually worth buying — tools, kitchen appliances, cozy blankets?

If that sounds familiar, don’t worry. I took a shortcut by asking the experts to share what they’re adding to their carts. Designer Adnan Anwar and DIY expert Julian Thomas were kind enough to share their favorite Amazon finds with me below. And yes, everything they’re shopping is definitely on sale!

For Anwar, a big, fluffy bed is key to a luxe-looking space — and his absolute favorite goose down duvet insert is on major sale today at almost 40 percent off. Before you place that order, though, the designer recommends buying one size larger than you need for an extra-plush, high-end bedding look. “I use a king insert for a queen duvet or an oversized king insert for a king duvet,” he says. “It gives you that really full, luxurious look rather than a sad, flat duvet.” 

Now’s a great time to swap out your pillows, too. Anwar’s favorite are these Downluxe pillows, which are on sale for around $40 right now. “They’re just the right amount of feathery and full for me,” he says. “And do not trust the ratings at all. I’ve used them over and over again and have never gotten a complaint.”

The last thing on Anwar’s list? A cozy new set of sheets, of course! It’s smart to stock up before the holidays if you plan on hosting. He recommends this 100% cotton sateen sheet set to all of his clients. “These are my go-to in the world of budget beds,” Anwar says.

Thomas says this easel-style TV stand was one of his all-time favorite Amazon purchases. “I own two of these TV easels, and they’re an instant conversation starter whenever I have guests over,” he says. “They also solve one of my biggest design pet peeves: figuring out how to make a TV feel intentional in a room.” The easel makes the TV feel more like a design feature than an eyesore, he adds. And right now? They’re on sale for under $100, which makes this design tweak all the more doable.

It’s smart to stock up on some of your favorite household essentials during the Big Deal Days sale, too. Thomas, a Command Brand partner, says he’ll be ordering some of these Command picture hanging strips. “I use them for projects all throughout the house, from gallery walls to seasonal decorating,” he says. “I always recommend having some on hand.”
