We have lived in this classic 1963 ranch home in South Austin for 10 years, slowly remodeling over time. Just before our son was born a little over two years ago we made a big push to realize our long held dream of converting the old garage into the kitchen- but retaining a garage door. Combined with a deck and fenced-in yard in the front, this has made a great indoor/ outdoor space that is perfect for family and entertaining alike! We love all the natural light that the large glass doors bring in all year round.
The mild Austin weather means we are always out in front- door open, glass of wine in hand, chatting to neighbors as they walk past in the evening as our kiddo plays is our favorite thing about this house and neighborhood! Our style is a mix of modern, classic, and cozy. We like the streamlined modern look, but like to warm things up with unique vintage and handmade touches. Tim is a welder and installed all the huge steel beams, as well as building the fence, staircase, and various furniture pieces and features around the house. Doing all the improvements ourselves means this home has been a true labor of love- much blood, sweat, and tears have been shed over the ten years. |
Thanks, Julia!
