Name: Melanie
Location: White Rock Lake — Dallas, Texas

My home is a mid century traditional built in 1950. I have lived here for three years with my husband Dalton and two pups, Addie and Mr. Cooper. It’s in East Dallas which has a bit of an eclectic vibe and really feels like an escape from the city without being too far.

We purchased the home from Architect DJ Perkison, who designed the amazing back patio. Even though the house is only about 1,000 square feet the patio adds a ton of livable space! It’s definitely my favorite place to be!

DJ’s design focuses on being eco-friendly so she also added amazing sustainable features like solar panels and a rain collector. We have remained friends with the former owners and Dalton (a photographer) has done work for their business. I love that our house built that relationship! I know they loved it as much as we do.

Dalton and I have complimentary styles – I’m a bit more bohemian to his mid century modern but it mixes well and mid century style furniture tends to be on the right scale since the house isn’t huge. I work as a photo producer at Wisteria so some of our larger pieces are from there. Our main source though it probably Craigslist – and of course IKEA!

Thanks, Melanie!
