Family room with basket chair and vintage vibes (Image credit: Submitted by Bridget)

Name: Bridget, her husband, teenage son and one dog
Location: Missoula, Montana
The basics: 18 months, owned | 2,000 square feet

Bridget’s home is warm, inviting, and relaxing. The natural light, white walls and layered rugs give the space a welcoming and open feel, perfect for lounging and hosting.

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: We are a small family of three with a sweet black lab pup. We treasure living in a smaller urban town like Missoula with easy access to the outdoors and a strong sense of community. It also has a touch of urban vibe where you can always find great live music or grab a good cup of coffee.

What is your favorite room and why? Our family room is likely my favorite room in the house. This room gets the sweetest morning light. We refer to it as the love room and the intention of this room really is love. It’s like walking through the various stages of our lives together as it holds different pieces from our relationship.

We kept the furniture purposefully minimal to encourage more floor lounging, playing games and lots of dog playtime. I had a hard time deciding on the right rug for the room, so instead just layered several vintage rugs I liked. I love the stories they hold and the feeling they emit. Incorporating a variety of textiles has been a great way to bring in warmth to our space yet they are easy to move around from room- to-room and allow for things to stay fresh.

If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be? If I could “magic wand” any space it’d be our mudroom. So many people visit and use this room. Balancing function and visual impression is something I’m still working on to dial in this space. Our solution for now is to embrace the mess of family life in motion – continue living it and eventually design something custom for better organization.

Which fictional character would be most at home in your place? Penny Lane

Bridget’s words of advice: For me, home is really an extension of your heart. It’s all about honoring your vision for how you want feel. I’m continually inspired by so many things on Instagram. Seeing the many ways people create a home is something I love. It reminds you there really is no one way, so sticking true to what brings you ease in your space is really the essential ingredient in establishing a space you love.

Thanks, Bridget!
