Disneyland is dubbed the “Happiest Place on Earth,” and is a popular vacation destination for people from all over the world. Even celebrities love to spend the day at the magical theme park in Anaheim, California.

But have you ever wondered what it would be like to live close enough to Disneyland that you could visit on a regular basis? For true Disney fanatics, owning a home in the area would be a dream come true. And Disney isn’t the only draw in moving to Anaheim—the city is only about 25 miles south of Los Angeles, and is also the most populous city in Orange County.

According to Zillow, the median home price in Anaheim is $587,300, or a $3,428 mortgage (using current interest rates and a 10 percent down payment). Based on the guideline that your mortgage should be no more than 28 percent of your salary, you’d need to earn about $147,000 to afford to buy a home.

Besides quick access to Disneyland, there are a lot of other entertainment options in the area as well, such as the House of Blues and a great fine dining scene, according to Meghan Shigo, an agent with Century 21 in Anaheim.

“The median price of the area is about $550,000 to $600,000,” says Shigo. “The neighborhood just north of Disneyland is the downtown, in which you can find historic homes with tax savings as well as hip, newer townhomes with awesome amenities like rooftop entertaining space, lush pools, and state-of-the-art gyms.”

This three-bedroom home in Anaheim offers a lot of entertaining and living space, including a covered patio as well as a two-car garage and a private backyard. It’s just about two and a half miles from Disneyland. It’s also just blocks from other popular destinations, including La Palma Dog Park, the Anaheim Packing District, Center Street Promenade, and Pearson Park. It’s listed at $574,900.

And this three-bedroom home features Spanish Revival Architecture and a front porch that runs the length of the house. It’s just a five-minute drive from Disneyland and is listed at $539,900.

Although there is a lot to love about living within a 10-minute drive of Disney World. Blanca Ramos, an agent with Tarbell Realtors who works in the area, cites well-priced homes (compared to other cities in Orange County), active community development, and good size yards as some of the perks of living in Anaheim.

However—it’s not always the happiest place on Earth. Ramos cautions that those who choose to live the closest to Disneyland will have to battle the park’s traffic and that the area has a lot of homes that were built in the 1950s, meaning they may require a lot of upgrades.

Although it’s not for everyone, living a stone’s throw from Disneyland sure sounds like a lot of fun for the right person! More of a Florida person? Check out how much it costs to live 10 minutes from Disney World.
