Andrijana & Stanimir's Subtle Details

Andrijana & Stanimir's Subtle Details

Name: Andrijana & Stanimir
Location: New York City, NY
Size: 750 sq ft
Years lived in: Several years; Rented

Andrijana & Stanimir do not like to be defined by any particular style or theme, giving them the freedom to incorporate & interchange an assortment of pieces in their apartment. This has become an integral part of their interior process as Andrijana is constantly changing and rearranging the space based on a new find. They've been living in their upper Manhattan rental for several years and have created a home that is open, inviting and full of artistic and cultural details, much like the couple themselves.

Upon entering Andrijana & Stanimir's apartment, you are greeted with the sweet scent of lavender and a wonderful sense of calm. There is great attention to layout, with each piece of furniture carefully arranged to allow for unconstricted movement & flow. The off-white walls are intentional, as to not detract from the amazing views of the city. The neutral foundation also allows them to highlight all the colorful textiles & artwork that live in the space, like the gorgeous early 20th century Eastern European Red kilim woven by Andrijana's great grandmother or the Gold egg crate sculpture made by a friend. Andrijana is a thrift & flea market junkie but one would never know by looking at their apartment as she seems to have perfected the art of what she calls "organized clutter". At first glance, one may even miss all the intricate objects that have been seamlessly integrated within her carefully organized book shelves.
Andrijana & Stanimir's home is a wondrous mix of old and new, traditional and modern, with each piece a reflection of the couples interests, phases and stages in life. And somehow, they've managed to balance it all in a way that does not seem staged or contrived, but simply effortless.
