How Anna Faris Spends Her Perfect Night In at Home
Perfect Night In is a series where we ask actors, artists, entrepreneurs, and beyond how they’d spend the ultimate luxury—a blissful evening at home.
Who wouldn’t want to hang out with an empress like Anna Faris? She’s extremely funny and bubbly to the core, plus she’s had such a prominent career that she’s bound to have some great life advice.
Sure, we all know and love her in the “Scary Movie” films as well as rom-coms like “The House Bunny” and “My Super Ex-Girlfriend”—plus her appearances in the final season of “Friends”—but Faris has a lot going on outside of acting. She’s launched a free-form advice podcast called “Unqualified” and also keeps busy with being a mother to 7-year-old Jack—which ties into why she recently partnered with Clorox for Back to School season.
“Clorox is partnering up with DonorsChoose.org, and they’re donating $150,000 to teachers in schools in need to help give supplies and create a clean work environment and a safe space for kids to be creative and productive, and that’s really important to me,” Faris told Apartment Therapy.
But before the school year truly kicks in, we asked how Faris would like to spend her ideal night in at home. Weirdly enough, chicken is a reoccurring answer.
Set the Scene
Describe your perfect homebody scene in five words:
Chicken, TV, bath, wine, lovin’.
Are you alone or with someone else?
I could be with someone or I could be alone, too—listen, I’m open. I know how to make things work.
What’s your night-in uniform?
It’s not very sexy, but I usually put on sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I should have said something like a Teddy.
What two people, dead or alive, would you let crash your night?
Oh, it’s so hard! This is the question that truly a day from now I’ll be like, why didn’t I think of that?! I’ve been reading about Amelia Earhart lately and how there’s a new clue about maybe where her plane has crashed. So hey Amelia, want to come over for some chicken? And Ötzi the Iceman, he’s like 6,000 years old. He would be blown away by my roast chicken.
Favorite cozy product:
I love the Le Mieux product line and moisturizing my face.
Now Playing
TV or a movie?
Ooooh, that’s tough these days. I gotta go with TV.
What are you watching?
“Succession,” re-watching “Friday Night Lights,” and “Veep.”
Silence or music?
Music! I bounce all over the place. I love old school hip-hop and Fleetwood Mac.
E-books or the real deal?
I’m kind of a real deal, but having said that, it’s because I’m not very wise in the ways of technology. But I love the feel of a real book.
What are you reading?
Somewhere along the way, I’ve stopped having time to read books. Now I just watch TV and read chicken. I did pick up “Educated,” so we’ll see.
What’s Cooking
Order in or cook for yourself?
I love to cook, it calms me down after a day at work. If I haven’t gone to the grocery store, then I order in, but if I have, then I cook and I like to be kind of scrappy about it. I like to find whatever I have in the freezer that’s kind of frost bitten, it’s a little bit gnarly, anything that’s a little bit moldy, give it to me. I’ll make it work.
What are you eating?
I really do love to do a fun taco night, if I’m hosting people. I like to do a whole fun spread with all the different toppings and flipping tortillas on the grill, that’s fun. That’s kind of all I can do, chicken and tacos.
What drink are you pouring?
I love a nice red wine, I love champagne for celebrating, sometimes I drink a glass of milk.
What’s for dessert?
I really like making sundaes, especially if I’m hosting, like having a fun sundae bar. Banana splits, I really like that kind of thing. But I don’t really host that much, this interview makes it seem like I have a lot of friends and I don’t.
Take Care
Do you have a self-care ritual?
I attempt to remember to wash my face, sometimes I brush my teeth, on rare occasions I floss, especially if I’ve had chicken.
What do you try to avoid at all costs?
An earthquake, is that an option? Maybe business phone calls, but probably an earthquake, or a fire, or a fire that was caused by an earthquake by gas leak in the neighborhood. Pack of coyotes suddenly storming into the house somehow, although that could be kind of interesting. They would just go for the chicken though.
Candles: yay or nay? (if yay, what’s your favorite?)
Yay! I like ‘em all, I like every single candle: Birthday candles, expensive candles, I don’t know, candelabras? Any candle, just give it to me, I love it. I actually have a weird thing where I cannot throw away a candle until it’s fully burnt out.
Face masks: yay or nay?
Yay! I’m into a face mask. But also, a lot of times with face masks you have to lie down, and I want to watch my television.
Bubble bath: yay or nay?
Nay, I like a bubble for sure, but I don’t need to make a production out of it… unless there’s chicken.
Chores: yay or nay?
Yay! Laundry, dishes, maybe a little dusting here and there, anything so watching reality television seems validated.
Thanks for chatting with us, Anna!
