If your home has a simple concrete patio or expansive backyard with a pool, you know just how special having an outdoor space can be — and how much of a draw it can be for buyers. It’s your own private oasis, and it should look (and feel) the part for you and anyone who might want to live in your house next. Outdoor furniture can sometimes get a reputation for prioritizing function over form, but it certainly doesn’t have to be that way. If you’re looking for modern, memorable furniture (yes, even for your yard), one great place to find it is Anthropologie.

To help sift through the dizzying array of stylish offerings at Anthropologie, I turned to award-winning stager Jason Saft of Staged To Sell Home in New York City. Here are his picks that’ll make your outdoor space the perfect combo of chic, playful, and practical.

Business & Pleasure Co. The Al Fresco Love Seat Frame & Cushion Insert Set
$1,998

Saft speaks highly of the vintage-inspired brand Business & Pleasure Co., and many of its pieces are sold at Anthropologie, including this charming love seat frame and cushion insert set. “Being based in NYC, I'm always looking for smaller pieces to fit compact spaces. While this love seat is small, it packs a punch and the fact that you can change covers really makes this one a must,” he explains.

Business & Pleasure Co. The Al Fresco Love Seat Cushion Slipcover Set
$298

With its white scalloped edges and pristine plush cushion, the Al Fresco love seat has an eye-catching design on its own, but adding a slipcover will help protect your investment from the elements. Plus, it’s a chance to play with your yard’s color palette. “My favorite cushion cover is the Jade green,” Saft notes. “It's a throwback to 1950s simplicity and works well with so many complementary colors.” If green’s not your thing, the other options include bright stripy patterns in shades like yellow, blue, and pink.

Business & Pleasure Co. Hemingway 35 QT Cooler
$499

You don’t want to be constantly running to the fridge and back when you’re trying to entertain guests. Load up this sleek, hefty cooler with all the drinks and snacks you might need and voila! You’ve got both a centerpiece and something that will keep ice frozen for up to four days (because, hey, you never know how long the party will go). “This yacht-like designer cooler is so chic that it will make even the simplest of snacks look divine,” adds Saft.

Tassa Outdoor L-Shaped Sectional
$3,498

“I love to bring the comforts of indoors into the backyard,” Saft says. With its comfy cushions, plush pillows, and striking silhouette, this sectional illustrates this concept perfectly. “This sectional is ideal for big gatherings that linger on all day (and night) long. Removable cushions for easy washing seal the deal,” he adds. (The cushions are also UV-resistant, anti-microbial, and weatherproof.)

Plumage Indoor/Outdoor Rattan Chair
$1,098$768

Saft explains his choice of this particular piece of furniture in simple, clear terms: “For when you want to peacock. No other explanation needed.” Made from lacquer-sealed rattan, this chair is absolutely brimming with bold, beautiful design details, so you’d be forgiven for spending more time staring at it than sitting on it. And if you don’t want to spend a second away from this statement piece, you’ll be glad to know it works both outdoors and indoors.

Anthropologie Giant Four In A Row
$140

You can fill your home’s outdoor space with all sorts of seating and tables, but it’s nice to have some fun activities, too. This cute, chic, and colorful offering puts “a design spin on a childhood favorite,” and proves that “Connect 4 is not just for kids,” says Saft. It also comes with a striped tote bag that can be easily repurposed as a beach bag for when you want to explore the great outdoors beyond your yard.

Bobbin LED Cordless Rechargeable Table Lamp
$170

It’s important to remember that even if your patio or yard is furnished and decorated, it’s still going to get dark at night. You might not have easy access to outlets, so Saft recommends these funky, sculptural, battery-powered lamps, which hold a charge for up to 10 hours. “These rechargeable lights work wonders for sunset barbecue and dinner parties,” he says, noting that he “loves how they illuminate a table and keep the party going.”
