This Simple DIY Takes Windows from Cheap to Charming in Minutes
If you’re on a mission to make your builder-grade home feel more charming, historic, and cozy, then you may need to do something about your windows. Thankfully, there’s an accessory that can turn your basic, modern windows into antique-inspired windows that are the star — and all you have to do is purchase and then pop them into place.
Mullions from Etsy Add So Much Charm to Windows
Drew Michael Scott of Lone Fox recently shared on Instagram how classic lattice mullions completely transformed his kitchen windows. “Was cleaning the windows today and forgot how much I LOVEEE the addition of mullions — they are essentially cut for the inside of your window to give the look of panes!” he wrote in his caption. “An affordable way to add charm to more modern windows!”
Over on TikTok, where Drew also shared the video, he explained in the comments that he ordered his snap-in mullions from Etsy. “They are laser cut wood!” he responded to one of his followers.
Etsy seller Serene Space Design makes custom laser-cut mullions for windows in a variety of different shapes. Simply enter your window measurements, select your preferred pattern and material, and the mullions will arrive at your doorstep in just a few days. Then, use double-sided tape to install!
You can attach them to the interior of your windows, your kitchen cabinets, mirrors, or literally anywhere else you need a bit of extra antique charm.
Someone else in Drew’s Instagram comments said you can get a similar look by using lattice fencing from The Home Depot if you’re handy. “We literally bought lattice from The Home Depot (or any store that has a garden section), cut them to the shape of our windows, and tada!” they wrote. “My husband said he used pressure to keep them in place, no glue. Cheaper hack, and it looks awesome!”
So if your space is lacking a little something something in the charm department, lattice mullions may be the solution. They’ll make you feel like you’re living in a fairy tale, and who wouldn’t want that?
