Here’s How I Turned My Tiny Balcony Into a Beautiful Oasis on a Small Budget
When picturing my dream apartment as a teenager — I saw myself living in a city even back then — a balcony was always part of the vision. There’s just something so romantic about it, having a little escape that’s secluded from the bustling streets below. However, after living in New York City for the past half decade, my hopes of finding a place with a private patio were dwindling. I rarely came across an apartment that had one, and on the rare occasion that I did, the rent was astronomical.
I guess that the fifth year’s the charm, because finally, I just scored a place that checks all of the boxes, balcony included. I still can’t believe my luck. Since moving in a few weeks ago, I decided to focus on the inside first, so I had to work on a budget when I got to the outside. I managed to give it a total transformation for about $400 (which is great considering how expensive patio furniture usually is). I’m pretty proud of the results, which you can check out below:
It took a lot of research to land on all of the budget-friendly products that remade my balcony. I’ve been looking forward to having a patio for so long that I didn’t want to buy anything on impulse. From a Walmart outdoor set that looks way more expensive than it is to a handy Wayfair storage bench, here’s every item that I used to turn my tiny balcony into an oasis.
