If You Love The Container Store, You Need to Know About This High-Quality Paper Goods Brand
As someone who lives in a small apartment, storage solutions have become my organizing (and decorating) lifeline. I’m a huge proponent of seeking out stylish bins and boxes that double as decor, especially for spots that are out in the open. Trendy rattan under-bed storage? Sign me up. Pretty basket to dump my clunky WiFi accessories? Yes, of course. But I’ve recently noticed that one area has been severely lacking on the storage and organization fronts: My WFH spot.
I have a fairly compact, single-drawer desk, so maximizing space and eliminating clutter are musts. That’s why I completely lucked out when Appointed, a D.C.-based paper goods brand founded in 2015, reached out to see if I wanted to try their newly-launched Workspace Collection. Truthfully, I didn’t have much familiarity with the shop, which is known for their minimalist notebooks, but I was so wowed by the overall design and durability of the products that I now need to spread the love. Basically, everyone should know about them, because my desktop and desk interior have never looked prettier or cleaner thanks to just a handful of their items.
Appointed’s latest workspace-focused line features six additions — a set of two storage boxes, a sleek clipboard, a mini brass ruler, a series of envelope-style file folders, a pad of grid paper, and a four-piece writing set — which you can shop à la carte via their website (and yes, they ship nationwide!). Both of the storage boxes (arguably my favorite piece) and the folio folders come in two different colors, light or dark, which will blend in well with any space. Another perk? Every workspace purchase includes a free pamphlet called “The Workspace Guide,” filled with genuinely useful tips and tricks for maximizing your own desk area.
Even if you’re not in the market for an office-gear upgrade, I’d highly recommend browsing Appointed’s popular notebooks, workbooks, and planners. I already own more notebooks than I care to admit, but the brand sent me one of theirs and it’s instantly replaced all others as my note-taking staple. I’d also consider it one of the most luxe versions I’ve encountered, so I know I can count on it for years. Each one is customizable by color, page format, and optional monogram. For hardcore hand-writers, you can even opt in to a subscription service, Appointed Post, and get new notebooks delivered on a one- to four-month schedule for 15 percent off.
Overall, Appointed feels like a stylish, stationery-heavy sister to The Container Store. Every desktop accent is also American-made and centered around sustainability: The team partners with fellow eco-conscious local vendors and, since 2021, they’ve shifted to 100 percent curbside-recyclable packaging. Above all else, Appointed’s quality reigns, with pieces so timeless that they’re bound to become permanent staples — all for well less than $100. Prices for the long-lasting Workspace Collection range from $20 to $78, and notebooks start at $24. Your best desk to date starts (and ends) here.
