“I had been looking for a work/live space to cut back on paying for a separate art studio,” Courtney admits. “I needed a space that I could paint and work in. We were very lucky, as it was also the first and only apartment that we saw. It was a sublet, and we jumped on it right away because we knew it was the right space for us.” 

Because the home is a rental, Courtney admits that the couple hasn’t been able to make any major updates to the loft. However, that doesn’t stop her from finding renter-friendly ways to infuse excitement and color into the home. 

The open layout has allowed the couple to make changes on a whim. “I have had the opportunity to have the living area and dining area flip a few times and move to a different part of the loft,” Courtney shares. 

Courtney’s artwork has also taken center stage in their loft. Not only is Courtney’s art studio the focal point of the home (she recommends guests wear shoes when inside, as she’s often stretching canvas!), but the abundant space allows for an almost gallery feel. 

“We really do live with the art, and it does spill out into every part of the house,” Courtney explains. “The constant rotation of paintings and sculptures has also been fun to live with and it does force us to change things up pretty frequently.”
