No one knows what to expect when they ring in the new year. That is especially true for 2021. In the best case scenario, a post-coronavirus society will hopefully begin to emerge as millions of people receive their vaccinations—but what will this year hold for the ways we work, socialize, and live from home? Instead of remaining in the dark about the future, why not look to the stars to guide the way?

Apartment Therapy spoke with two astrologers  to gain insight about what lies ahead for each sign in the zodiac, and how the universe will impact each sign’s home life. Read ahead to discover what your sign should expect in 2021.

Aries (March 21 — April 19)

Aries has been restless over the last six months—itching to get out of the house. It’s no surprise that the zealous and determined Aries was bogged down by inactivity in 2020. To relieve some of that pent up energy, astrologer Sarah James Carter recommends that Aries rally their friends for “an online fitness challenge or perhaps a detox cleanse” to start the new year fresh.

2021 also brings expansion in your social circles and clarity regarding your personal life. “Now that their ruling planet Mars is out of the shadow, Aries may decide to rethink their most personal relationships and either make necessary adjustments or move on,” astrologer Lisa Barretta explains. She also suggests incorporating that change into your home by either adding or removing a part of your space, whether that’s redesigning an old room or sprucing up a new addition like a home office.

Taurus (April 20 — May 20)

People born under Taurus tend to be more resistant to change—and they’re well-known for their reliability. Barretta notes that Taurus will “need to develop flexibility” in 2021. Uranus, the planet of the “unexpected,” has remained present in Taurus since mid-2018—influencing a rebellious streak in Taurus. In 2021, the planet will be aligned with Taurus’s fourth house, which represents the home and the family. “Changes in schedules and work from home employment may prove challenging at times,” she adds.

James Carter recommends shaking up your home aesthetics by swapping “the neutral greige for a bold print wallpaper.” That way, if you decide you’re not into the change, you can just as easily undo it.

Gemini (May 21 — June 20)

The energetic and eclectic Gemini is set to prosper in 2021. According to James Carter, “the new year offers an energy supportive of change,” and “this year is all about self-discovery for Geminis.” Geminis will find themselves asking key questions about their future, including where and how they want to live.

This year’s eclipse seasons (May 26, June 10, and Dec. 4) will provide profound opportunities for growth. Barretta shares that “Geminis will find themselves more organized and able to take care of tasks they tend to let slide.” To feed into this positive energy, she recommends Geminis set up space for exercising to aid them in their personal development.

Cancer (June 21 — July 22)

Cancer is an emotional and empathetic homebody. Thankfully, Cancer will find a new type of reprieve in their home life, especially in the summer months as Jupiter dips into Pisces from May 13 to July 28. Instead of itching to break out the house post-quarantine, James Carter says that Cancer will “welcome a sabbatical” in the summer. She also recommends for the water sign to set up a mini-resort at home, with a “margarita in hand, of course.”

Leo (July 23 — August 22)

2020 pushed Leo to their limit. Confinement forced Leo to reflect on their future, and in particular, their relationships. This year will bring further clarity about who Leo’s “loyal, solid friends” are, Barretta notes.

Weeding out superficial relationships isn’t enough, however—this year will also be big for Leos looking to do inner work. James Carter says “it’s time for Leo to start ‘adulting’ and figure out their boundaries and responsibilities,” since Saturn moved into Aquarius on Dec. 17 (and will remain there until March 7, 2023). Focus on clearing out your closet, junk drawer, or anywhere else you might be holding onto belongings you’ve long since outgrown.

Virgo (August 23 — September 22)

Virgo is an ultra-perfectionist. The detailed-oriented earth sign will need to get and stay organized heading into 2021. According to James Carter, “structured Saturn” will impact Virgo’s everyday routines. Both astrologers suggest Virgo prioritize making their home office as efficient as possible. James Carter notes to “pin those home office pics on Pinterest and get to work on manifesting the home office of your dreams.” Barretta adds that Virgos might want to try being “a little more daring in how you decorate your home and go beyond the safety of beige.”

Libra (September 23 — October 22)

Beauty-oriented Libra is in for a treat this year. As Barretta notes, “heavy planets like Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto have been clustered in your fourth house, but with both Saturn and Jupiter leaving in 2021, you’ll regain some footing.” And James Carter points out that  the “abundant” Jupiter will move to Libra’s fifth house of creativity and pleasure. Libras can use this newfound creative energy to update a part of your home, preferably for entertaining as reconnecting with old friends is in your future!

Scorpio (October 23 — November 21)

Scorpio is enigmatic and intense, so it’s no surprise that they like their privacy. Barretta explains that last year gave you “a lot of time to go deep into self-discovery,” and now you are ready to “continue to develop your uncanny intuition and perception.” With Jupiter passing through Scorpio’s fourth house, now may be a good time to set up an area for spiritual reflection. She recommends creating a space like a personal altar or a meditation area to channel your energy.

Sagittarius (November 21 — December 22)

Sagittarius is a sociable but introspective adventurer. The fire sign needs to listen to their soul this year to break certain cycles in 2021. “With the 2021 lunar south node sitting in Sagittarius, this year is about taking a deep, hard look in the mirror and figuring out who you are at your core,” James Carter says. “During this season of introspection and change, changing your environment to match will be extra-important.”

Barretta also suggests Sagittarius to continue reading books as a solitary form of self-exploration—perhaps those set in far-flung locales to scratch Sagittarius’ noted travel itch.

Capricorn (December 23 — January 19)

Ambitious Capricorn can finally look forward to a year of rest in 2021. According to Barretta, “Now that Saturn and Jupiter have left your sign, you should start feeling lighter.”

“This is a time to recover and get back into those gentle routines,” James Carter adds. She recommends turning your bedroom into “an oasis of peace and tranquility,” so that it can be a place of purpose for recentering your mind and spirit at the end of each deal-making day.

Aquarius (January 20 — February 18)

Things are only looking up for Aquarians in 2021! Big changes are coming your way as Jupiter and Saturn align with Aquarius this year. “Admittedly home life can get a little unpredictable, but luckily Aquarius likes when things are different,” Barretta says.

Fortunately, James Carter says this is “an extra-supportive time to reinvent yourself and your space.” With various career opportunities coming your way in 2021, Baretta notes that this can result in a big move. If you do decide to follow these opportunities elsewhere, consider who you want to be in this new place and how you want to shape your new home.

Pisces (February 19 — March 20)

The sensitive and creative Pisces experienced quite a heavy 2020. Barretta says the sign “may have felt a little lost with the cluster of heavy planets Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto bogging down the sector of your chart that has to do with gatherings, hopes, and wishes.” Thankfully, things will lighten up for Pisces as Jupiter dips into the water sign’s fourth house this summer. “Your home becomes a hub for communication so you can expect more calls and even impromptu visits from friends,” she predicts.

James Carter notes Pisces may feel “energized and excited about what lies ahead.” She encourages Pisces to reflect on what they want, where, and how they want to live—in other words, develop a plan and implement it. Going after those goals will lead to a fruitful social life.
