When Palmer Schallon and Melissa Arcaro moved from LA to Atlanta’s West End neighborhood two years ago, they kept coming across homes that had been modernly renovated while house hunting. “This house had the least amount of work and we really loved the craftsman accents that were preserved,” they explained. “There is also a great little local supermarket called Westview Corner Grocery within walking distance that really helped seal the deal.”

The couple actually spent fifteen years in the set decoration department in the film industry, so when it came to tackling this three-bedroom house’s reno, their background prepared them. “We did a complete redo of the home ourselves with custom furniture that Palmer designed and built along with hand carved accents throughout the space,” Melissa writes.
Melissa says their house is a Craftsman built in the 1920s and is has lots of warm woods and lots of detail. “We played off what existed to create something cohesive along with working with the colors, textures and tone that we feel comfortable surrounded by. We like the idea of someone coming in and being able to see who we are just by exploring the rooms,” she writes.
“After years of working on other peoples projects and designing/decorating the homes we lived in, people began to encourage us to start our own business decorating for residential and commercial spaces.” Their business is called PSAMA Design and they can be found on Instagram and TikTok.
