Candice and Eddie’s colorful and happy apartment is housed in an old warehouse development, in the inner-city Melbourne suburb of Collingwood. The open plan living, kitchen, and dining room has amazing high ceilings, with a loft bedroom upstairs. It’s a fun home, with quirky details–and a great example of how to have a colorful space with a mix of soft and subtle pastels.

Candice is originally from the U.S. and has been living in Australia for seven years, slowly collecting vintage furniture, decor, and art. She has a wonderful eye for finding quirky artwork on Society6 and secondhand furniture finds–including their fabulously vibrant collection of dining table chairs, all sourced from Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree.

It’s a home that’s often evolving, and you can follow Candice on Instagram to see how she styles their home for movie and TV watching nights with friends! With so many gorgeous chairs, cushions, and throws, you know it must be cozy and comfy to lounge in!

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style: Eclectic and colorful mixed with vintage and mid-century finds. I want a home that makes people feel happy and bright when they come in.

Inspiration: Pinterest and Instagram. I love finding homes and spaces that are unique and play with styles, color, and texture. It’s inspiring to see people having fun with design.

Favorite Element: I love our tall ceilings and open plan living. We enjoy entertaining and the space really accommodates for it. I keep lots of soft furnishings to make sure it still feels warm and inviting.

Biggest Challenge: Closet space! We love the openness of our warehouse, but we have one closet between the two of us. It’s all about finding clever ways to hide things. I ended up getting clothing racks in our loft and I actually think it adds to the space.

What Friends Say: People always comment how “fun and cool” our place is.

Biggest Embarrassment: When Louis was a puppy he chewed up some corners of our rug. We try to hide it with chairs and cushions now.

Proudest DIY: I bought these little composer busts on Facebook marketplace and I spray painted them bright colors. They add a fun quirky vibe.

Biggest Indulgence: Most of my furniture is vintage, but I splurged on my pink Coco Lounge chair. It is so big and cozy. I just couldn’t help myself.

Best Advice: Just because you are renting doesn’t mean your home can’t have style. Have fun, let your personality shine through your house.

Dream Sources: I love Sage and Clare. They have the best cushions! Bride and Wolfe
is another favorite of mine. She makes the most fun mirrors that add so much
personality to a home. Gumtree and Facebook marketplace are my go-tos for
unique pieces.
