Name: Meghan Lorenz Location: Ukrainian Village — Chicago, Illinois Size: 1,600 square feet Years lived in: 6 years, rented Meghan Lorenz is a jewelry maker and occasional prop stylist and her creative eye is on display all over her Chicago apartment. Her space is filled with pieces from her artist friends (and her artist boyfriend). She loves to go thrifting and antiquing, a skill she got from her mom. In fact, many of her awesome pieces were thrifted by her mother.

Name: Anna Rafferty and her husband Location: Irving Park — Chicago, Illinois Size: Approx. 1,200 square feet Years lived in: 3 years, rented I am not exaggerating when I say that Anna Rafferty’s home is the most colorful apartment I’ve ever seen. Every room is so thoughtfully curated with pinks, purples, and the ubiquitous green of plants throughout. And not just these colors, but the neon versions of these colors.

Considering that Lake Michigan is just two miles away, it’s a lake house that they live in year-round. Graphic designer Andrea and software engineer Elliott both create things at their jobs, so they say that they don’t do much DIY at home.

Most people’s homes would be hopelessly cluttered if they had access to so many beautiful things, but not Kristen. She’s mastered the art of living minimally.

A Southern-Inspired Chicago Apartment
Name: Travis Location: Lakeview — Chicago, Illinois Size: 1000 square feet Years lived in: 2 years, rented Travis grew up in Louisiana and Texas, but has been living in Chicago for a medical residency for the last couple years. He made sure to bring his southern roots with him in the form of decor. Travis’s apartment has a sort of dark & gothic feel to it. He attributes this to all the “dead things” around the apartment. He has taxidermy, bones and shells in every room.

Name: Sarah & Lindsay Location: Humboldt Park — Chicago, Illinois Size: 1,000 square feet Years lived in: 5 months; Rented Sarah and Lindsay haven’t even lived together for half a year, but their styles have already merged seamlessly. Sarah brought the cozy Southwestern elements while Lindsay brought the Mid-century modern, and all the colors and patterns work with the nature-inspired elements to create a space that is warm and inviting.

Both of them lived in tiny 400-square-foot apartments in Manhattan, and now they have all this space to create in — and Becca has been taking full advantage.

She grew up in the 1st floor apartment where her parents still live, and now shares the 3rd floor with her two tortoises, Yurtle and Olive.
