I wanted my bedroom to cocoon me when it was time to go to sleep.

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: This is my first home. I wanted to purchase an older home with good bones that I could make small improvements to over the next couple of years. The first thing I did was paint every wall, and then I let the personality of those rooms dictate the purpose and decor. I’ve collected a lot of items over the past few years, and in this house, I have been able to find a space for everything.

The navy dining room was the first room that was fully envisioned in my mind.

I definitely love vintage items. Not just for their charm and design, but for their longevity and sustainability. I am trying to get away from buying new items and I am making purposeful decisions to shop secondhand. About half, if not more, of the furnishings in my house are from local vintage vendors, Facebook Marketplace, or flea markets and thrift stores.

Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Eclectic Vintage

What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is my dressing room. I have one of my first vintage pieces in there, the olive green velvet settee. I have a lot of clothes and shoes, so I wanted to use one of the rooms as space where I could get ready and display my favorite pieces.

I've had this sofa for a long time and decided to punch it up a bit with new pillows when I moved.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing I bought for my home was a vintage brass etagere from one of my favorite stores, Ryan’s Relics. I needed a piece to go beside my sofa so that I could display some books and framed pictures. This piece was perfect for my color scheme and fit my eclectic vibe.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Collect items you will have for a long time. I try to think about the purpose I need the item for and how long I will likely need that item. That usually ensures that I gravitate toward something that is made well and lasts multiple redesigns.

This is an old chair that my mom had in her basement. A lot of friends often ask me where I got things, and "my mom's basement" has been the answer very frequently.
