Tired of living with the unfinished look of a “king size bed on a cheap metal frame just pushed up against the wall”, Kristen knew she wanted to add a headboard but didn’t want to spend a lot of money. Enter her local secondhand store, Buffalo ReUse, where Kristen went to browse for inspiration. At only $10, this solid wood door was a great find, one Kristen knew she could use to transform the look of her bedroom.

Kristen selected this door for its simple lines and its symmetry. A little work with filler and caulk to clean up the joints and hide the evidence of the door hardware, and a few coats of paint, and Kristen was ready to hang her new headboard. With the help of husband Craig, and a furring strip at the base of the headboard, Kristen transformed the look of her bedroom. This creative reuse of an old door is proof that even a small and inexpensive change can have a big impact on a living space.
