This laminate cabinet hadn’t seen the light of day in awhile, storing odds and ends in a basement. But when Jessica and her husband moved into their new house and were looking for furniture they could make their own, they decided to try and brighten this dark piece with paint to fit the style of their new dining room.

From Jessica:

It is a laminate cabinet that I first lightly sanded and then used a glossy surfaced primer on to give it a good base coat. Then I painted it with a light grey we had left over from the kitchen. I sealed it with a polycrylic and spray painted the handles to update them, too.

Today we use it to hold our barware and liquor. It’s the perfect cabinet that has display shelves behind glass and lower doors to hide items, too. Yes, laminate can be painted!
