Before & After: Annikki’s Living Room Brightener
I know Annikki personally, so I was particularly excited when I found out that she and her husband were not only expecting a baby, they were also figuring out ways to get their new home ready despite their old furniture. Of big concern was the living room, where their “gloomy” seal brown leather wanted an upgrade. With one stroke, they needed to transform this room. Click below to see how they did…
Annikki writes:
“The living room in our new home was beautiful, a stone fireplace, floor to ceiling custom cabinets, reclaimed and restored hardwood flooring from a 100 year old barn in Vermont. Yet when it came to our furniture, we were forcing our old sofa, acquired in our 20’s while living in a cobbled-together NYC apartment with multiple roommates to fit our new surroundings. The seal brown leather 3-seat sofa made the room, with windows on just the east wall, feel sunless and gloomy for too much of the afternoon. Additionally, after trying different furniture arrangements, we couldn’t find a layout where we felt the room was a finished product.
We went in search of a sofa to brighten the room’s mood, serve as a centerpiece for entertaining, and welcome our family home after hectic days of work, play and activities.
In anticipation of the arrival of our first child, a comfortable sleeper sofa for the grandparents to slumber on would be the icing on the cake. We found one from Room and Board that had this and more: sleeper sofa, chaise AND extra storage.
We chose a soft color option to contrast the dark environment and the chaise design to add aesthetic intrigue to the living space. A sanctuary for kids’ toys, the built-in storage compartment provides blankets a hidden home, no longer strewn across the room while the convert-in-seconds pop up sleeper sofa is the answer we needed for our overnight guests. What more could we ask for in a sofa? Not a thing.”
Thank you Annikki!
