Tanya swiped this chair from a trash heap, shoved it in the back of her car, and and drove away without looking back. Over time, she grew sentimental about this “garbage chair,” and finally made the leap to reupholster it:
The labor was $630 (which included repairs), new foam cost $50, and the velvet fabric was $250. This was a MAJOR splurge for us, but in the end we have something that’s perfect, and it makes me smile every time I think about the day we found it…Our home is a blend of second-hand finds, DIY pieces, plus a little IKEA, so it feels fancy to add a custom upholstered piece to the mix, even if I did pluck it out of a trash heap!
